What game is this?
This is Super Robot Way Y. It’s the latest game in the Super Robot Wars Franchise that has been running since 1991. You can expect a giant crossover game featuring a story combining a bunch of your favorite (or hated, or completely obscure) mecha anime.

Don’t you have a SRW 2 LP that you’ve abandoned?
Yes, but I don’t have time to continue that right now. Between translating, playing through three versions of the same stage, and editing it all together, it takes over 20 hours to put out a single episode.

What series are in this game?
  • Reideen the Brave
  • Super Electromagnetic Robo Combattler V
  • Aura Battler Dunbine
  • Aura Battler Dunbine: Tales of Neo Byston Well
  • Heavy Metal L-Gaim
  • Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
  • M-MSV
  • Mobile Fighter G Gundam
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
  • Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 1
  • Mazinkaiser vs. The Great General of DarknessGetter Robo Arc
  • Majestic Prince
  • Macross Delta
  • Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walküre
  • Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III: Glorification
  • Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection
  • Godzilla Singular Point
  • SSSS.Dynazenon
  • Banpresto Originals
DLC Series
  • Galaxy Cyclone Braiger
  • The Big O
  • Fuuto PI: The Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull
  • Steel Jeeg
  • Getter Robo: The Jet-Black Drifters
  • The Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn
What’s the format and release frequency?
This will be a video LP as all of my LPs are. I’m putting out releases daily assuming nothing goes awry. I’m also releasing this in sync with my friend Ace_Zappa. I’ve taken the Male protagonist (Cross), and will generally grab Real Robot routes when given a choice. Zappa is doing the opposite and has taken the female protagonist (Forte), and will generally grab Real Robot Routes.

Ideally, between the two of us, we’ll show off the vast majority of the content, as can be done with two routes.

Playlist of my videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... pzszCl5lQd
Playlist of Zappa’s videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... RKyy5w-HR4

To clarify, Zappa isn’t on this forum, and I will not be posting his videos aside from the playlist above. However, I will reference his LP at times in mine (both in the video, and in the description), and we sometimes crash each other’s streams, so there may be surprise guest appearances. Furthermore, because we are doing our best to show off mutually exclusive content, you will occasionally need to pop into his LP to see what the other option of something was.

Spoiler Policy:
This game is about a week old. Absolutely no spoilers! However, you absolutely are allowed to mention things to watch out for that create missable content. For example: “Side Mission 2-1 gets replaced by a mutually exclusive mission if you hold off on playing it until after you beat Side Mission 2-7” is a perfectly acceptable comment to drop. It helps ensure my route planning is optimal, and that Zappa and I can prepare ahead of time to show off different stages.

On the other hand, “Mu La Flaga dies if you deploy him on stage 40” is absolutely unacceptable. Likewise, general plot spoilers and interesting crossover moments that haven’t happened yet are not acceptable.

Four episodes to start us off:

Episode 1: Flowers, a Ninja, a Birthday

We start the game off with our new main characters, Cross Tsukinowa, pilot of the Lunedrache, and Echika Y Franburnett the girl who received control of a city-sized air/space ship on her fourteenth birthday from her late father. And it’s on her very birthday that our story and the action begins.

Episode 2: The Demon on High Awakens

We’ve gotten the OG plot fired off, and now it’s time to take our first pick. Our choice is between Getter and Dynazenon at first, so we decide to go with Getter first. Zappa will take the opposite route and grab Dynazenon first.

Episode 3: Combine Dragon

The Getter team has joined, and now our only choice to move forward is to take on the Dynazenon plot. Kaijus have arrived and threaten the city. Not the godzilla kind, but they do have a resemblance.

Episode 4: The Door Opens

Now that we’ve gotten both Getter Arc and Dynazenon, we return to the united route and play the final stage of Chapter 1. Domon and Rain sneak aboard the A. Advent, but are immediately discovered. They join us for now and help us defend Tokyo.

Episode 5: A Mission for Brave Heroes

Let’s Fire up Chapter 2 by heading out to meet the Reideen team. Yes, I’m pissed that it’s called Reideen when it’s actually Raideen. Reideen is the remake, Raideen is the original. But nope, we’re now calling the original Reideen. Oh well. The Reideen team is recovering from one of their members dying in battle. Fortunately, they have Tetsuya and Great Mazinger with them to help. We’re only there to give them energy, but we end up getting pulled into the fight as well.

Episode 6: Visitors from Another World

Now that we've fully entered chapter 2, the world has opened wide for us. We have the next main stage to progress the story. We have five side missions to collect allies and get more plot and character development. We have two DLC/Preorder bonus stage. We have a front/battle mission, and we have a lot of talking

We'll be starting up with one of the preoder DLC stages. Dimensional shenanigans happen, and the protagonists of SRW V, Chitose and Souji, appear on our Earth to their great surprise. On top of that, Masaki also arrives in his Cybaster from another world. Yes, it's Cybaster, not Cybuster like it should be. I don't know, I guess it's a good turkey baster.

Episode 7: Unstable Dimensions

We have another DLC/preorder stage. This is the reward for getting the DLC 01/02 pack. The SRW X and T protagonists show up with the Xelguard, Tyranado, and Tyranado Rex. Once more, it's dimensional shenanigans bringing these characters over to our Earth.

Episode 8: Malice in Their Shadows

Alright, enough time spent on collecting DLC units, let's move onto the the actual game once more. We head over to Stockholm to meet up with Relena. We're promised Wing, but instead we get Some Gundam ladies, plus Kallen hanging out and getting attacked by androids. Relena is the current Vice Foreign Minister, Lacus is fulfilling her post-Destiny role, and Kallen and Allenby are Relena's bodyguards. We didn't get a lot of Gundam Wing happening, but that's OK. The stage specifically mentions Gundam SEED Destiny, so that's the next stage we're going to take. When Zappa gets around to this stage, I've asked him to play it after playing the Destiny stage first to see how it changes.

Episode 9: Behind Those Rage-Filled Eyes

The previous mission told us to head to Orb, and we dutifully oblige. There we meet up with Cagalli, Athrun, and Shinn. As always, we went as mere energy merchants, but soon we were roped into battle. We also learn a little more about the revolutionary war that happened before, and what some of the old rivalries were. Shinn and Kallen apparently we fierce rivals, and only had the chance to meet in person now.

Episode 10: Relic Hunt 1 and 2: Gales and Lightning

OK, that was enough story and recruiting allies for now. When in doubt, collect side-content.That's my motto. That's how we show everything off. This time, we do two relic stages. These are short stages, limited to three units, where you need to solve a puzzle whether that be in terms of placement, movement, or prioritization. The stages are pretty simple for now. I'm sure they'll get harder later.

Episode 10: Relic Hunt 3: Sight and South American Front

Zappa did all three relic hunts as a single mission. I split off the third one and added it to the front mission. This one was super easy to solve, and then the front mission is just for grinding kills for ace bonuses and secrets.

Episode 12: A New Gundam Fight!

We’re done with the filler mission, and we’re done with the “Real Robot” side of the start of chapter 2. While G Gundam straddles the line between real and super, we treated it as Super and Zappa had a crack at this stage before me.

We’re invited to New York, where Chibodee challenges Domon to a Gundam Fight. But after losing, VAL-X attack and we need to fight off a horde of enemy units. Chibodee in the Gundam Maxter and George in the Gundam Rose end up joining us to figure out what’s going on.

Episode 13: The Campbellian Enigma

We head down to Easter Island where Hyoma and the Combattler V team are protecting scientists exploring the Campbellian ruins, when suddenly they fall under attack. To make things worse, Garuda reappears, but it seems to not be the original Garuda, but a new one with none of his memories.

Then, the Insectors appear and turn this entire engagement into one giant mess.

Episode 14: Aliens Adrift

Alright, that's enough of the side stages. It's time to grab the next main stage and progress the story and and expand the mission chart. We head to Panama to gain permission to go to space. We get it, although there are multiple units dimension shifting into our location. Daba and Show appear, although with the wrong fairies at first. Their respective enemies have teamed up and are fighting us, dragging the A. Advent into the conflict.

Episode 15: Majestic Prince, Sortie

Since we gained access to space, we now have access to a greater array of missions. Obviously we can progress the story, but there's so many other side missions to grab. First and foremost, since I'm on the real route, I need to first grab the real representatives from this area, and that's none other than the Majestic Prince, or perhaps the Fail Five. Based off of today's performance, we're going to be hurting trying to use them as main units. Oh well.

Episode 16: Relic Hunt: Courage, Sacrifice, Aura

Today we have three Relic stages. Just like last time, these are puzzle stages that have you dealing with an enemy force with a limited turn count, and under special conditions in order to receive some parts.

Tomorrow's episode is in copyright hell. It's disputed, but if it doesn't get released by tomorrow, I'll just link an alternate video host instead.

Episode 17: To Be A Hero

This is an alternate version of Side Mission 2-1. If you play the base version, it is a Dynazenon stage. You can see the base version of this stage as episode 11 of Zappa's LP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah_FfYd_vlo

However, now that we have recruited the MJP team, the base version of this stage is unavailable, and our alternate version has the MJP and Dynazenon teams training together as they build up Gauma's one-sided rivalry.

This episode is copyright blocked on Youtube. Still waiting for my dispute to go through. However, I have alternate video hosts for everyone’s convenience.

Episode 18: The Bell of Londenion

Time for another route split with exclusive content. We’re starting up Char’s Counterattack plot, although we’re in a weird, semi-post-plot version of Char’s counterattack. We can start up by meeting up with Neo Zeon or with Londo Bell. We decide to meet up with Londo Bell, because that gives us Amuro sooner. Meanwhile, Zappa has taken the Neo Zeon route first. Check his version here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtti8tAvi3o

Episode 19: Char And Amuro

We move onto the second part of this two-parter. Londo Bell enters Side 3 and meets up with Char. Along the way, we are intercepted by Wulgaru and Posaydal forces. They seems content to fight us and not each other. Fortunately, Neo Zeon comes to our aid, including Gyunei, Quess, and Kamille in the Hyaku Shiki Kai

Big Catchup dump. I was volunteering at a festival this weekend. I worked 45 hours between 5am Friday and Sunday night. Plus I also did another 4-5 hours of cleanup on Monday. It took a lot out of me, but I’m recovering well. Should be back up to normal soonish. A good night of sleep and few days of rest should be enough to get me back up to speed, but that good night of sleep, and days of rest are proving to be elusive. Anyway, enough complaining about hard work, let’s talk about some super robots.

Episode 20: The Despondence of the Sixth

With the start of the CCA plot happening, it’s time for us to move on. In fact, we’re backtracking for some more Majestic Prince plot. We the debut of Team Doberman and Ange Kuroki in the Black 6. Ange has some massive mood swings, ranging from soft and demure to absolutely unhinged!

As this is a secret, only I’m getting it. Zappa is doing the Aura Ladies stage this episode instead, where he will get a Dunbine unit early. By doing this, we’ll each show off what happens when secrets that could join early don’t.

---

Episode 21: Crimson Vortex

Warning: I ended up replaying this stage. If you’re following along with my route, make sure that Amuro and Kamille have a total of 76 kills or more by the end of this stage.

We’re out of secret stages and side stages that I have priority on getting. That means it’s time to go back and grab the “Super Robot” side stages. The relevant section here is the debut stage of Jet Jaguar from Godzilla Singular Point. And let me just say, Jet Jaguar is the best support bot ever! He needs to get all of the support attacks!

---

Episode 22: Beyond Time, Beyond Space

We’re called back to Londenion because apparently we didn’t provide all the energy that we got paid for. However, this is all a ruse, as secretly, the Nu and Zeta Gundams have been found, and have been transferred to us by Cameron from a mysterious benefactor.

--

Episode 23: A Witch, A Bride, An Angel

We’re out of any other possible stage to play, so we’re forced to move forward to the next story stage. This time, it’s the debut of The Witch from Mercury. We get thrown straight into the first episode of WFM, although Heero, Duo, and Hilde are helping the preventers by sneaking into the school.

--

And with that, we’re caught up. Sort of. I still don’t have tomorrow’s episode recorded, so I’ll be doing that tonight. It’ll be on stream if I have time, or just recorded if I don’t.

I just forgot to post the update yesterday, so have a double update

Episode 24: Cursed Mobile Suits

This stage is mandatory to do immediately after the previous one. Essentially it's a two-parter.

We have another duel with Guel, and I show off both what happens if you win, or if you delay. We keep the winning option, just in case. I'm not sure if I'll take the Bob secret, or if Zappa will take it, or if we'll both take it.

After that, we're attacked by Wulgaru, including Izuru's rival, the second prince.

---

Episode 25: Justice and Friendship

We have an optional side mission that appears just now, and will disappear once we grab the next story stage. It causes Quatre and Sandrock to join early, and gives us a bit of story about Wufei and his "team".

This is another stage that Zappa will not be playing. So if you're following along with his playthrough, welcome.

Nothing quite like being on-call on a weekend to mess up your release schedule. Yay!

Episode 26: Returned from the Abyss

I could go grab the Destiny stage, but I'm going to hold off on it so I can catch up with Zappa. Surprisingly, we're doing the same stage today. However, because we're out of sync, I'm doing this stage as the first of the two-parter, and Zappa is doing this as the second stage of the two-parter.

We head to Zilkhstan because Relena, Lacus, and Nunnaly were kidnapped. Along the way we run into CC and resurrected Lelouch. A prison break and gauntlet of enemies later, we rescue everyone except Nunnaly, who we were unable to find.

Episode 27: The Singer from the Galaxy

Let's fire up the Macross Delta plot! We get some weird humanitarian supplies from across the galaxy, and the then suddenly berzerkers! However, berzerkers cannot stand up to the power of diagetic music sung by idols!

Episode 28: Who Determines Destiny

Finally stages that don't last forever! It's the Gundam SEED Destiny early upgrade stage. We head out to PLANT but along the way, we run into the Wulgaru attacking. We of course step in to the action. I was reckless in my defense, spreading out and leaving lots of holes. When VAL-X arrived to blow up the colony, Luna arrived with the restored Destiny Gundam, and delivers it to Shinn. We now have Shinn in his correct mobile suit. And he even does the start of the School of the Undefeated of the East dance at the end. The cowards didn't show it in full though!

Episode: 29: The Hand Guiding the Future

We've finally reached the end of Chapter 2. We're in for a looooooooooong ride if this is how long we can expect chapters to be. In a normal Super Robot Wars game, we would have expected to be past the halfway point at stage 29. Not here though. We're barely at the beginning of the game, and we've skipped some stages to show off the differences between my route and Zappa's route. Buckle up, because we're not getting off anytime soon. We have the elections for the A Advent, and our shadowy mystery duo is up to their eyeballs meddling in it. Negsis is running for the position of representative against Echika, and Ri Seivas is taunting Y-Naught before leading the charge in battle against us.

Episode 30: The Charge of the Red Comet

We kick off Chapter 3 with a secret mission. Zappa is playing the version of this stage where Amuro has less than 40 kills. I'm playing the version where Amuro has 40 or more kills. We come back to Side 3, but along the way are attacked by waves of VAL-X and Macross enemies.

Fortunately, the reinforcements are not one-sided as we get a handful of reinforcements of our own, including Zechs, Noin, Kira, and Char Aznable himself. Together, we are able to fight off the enemies, and gain some boosted rewards.

Episode 31: Another, Oneself, a Team

This is one stage that Zappa won't be able to grab, as you need to have beaten Ange's debut stage to unlock this.

Teams Rabbits continues to remain totally dysfunctional, and are having trouble integrating Ange into the team. They're sent out by themselves to take on a Wulgaru attack. While the gameplay side the defense goes amazingly well, the story claims they were all struggling. However, the ultimately unite, and get their combination attack as a result.

Episode 32: ReliQuest: Relic of Gold, Space and African Fronts

Hey, I'm synced up perfectly with Zappa on this one! We're taking on the Relic of Gold (super easy, but it skyrocketed Quess's and Char's levels. The two Front missions feed our low score units with a bunch of free kills.

Episode 33: Those Who Know Pain

I decided to skip the stage where Relena gets kidnapped for the Endless Waltz events, and it turns out that I get to watch Dorothy Catalonia get kidnapped instead. We end up successfully rescuing her, and in return, our Gundam Wing gundams get a nice boost.

Episode 34: Struggling Ninja, Relics of Sights and Gales

In contrast to all of the stages taking forever to beat, we have a short and sweet stage. In fact, it's so short that I also decide to pop in and grab two more relics. But in the end, Hooray, Cross made a friend.

----

Episode 35: Kaiju Hunting

Nice to have a simple stage. We head over to Osaka to sell them some energy. However, the A. Advent is getting dangerously close to bankruptcy. Despite this, when Osaka falls under attack, Echika orders Y-Naught to launch, not expecting any money in return. However, Jet Jaguar and Dynazenon (and the rest of Y-Naught), do such a great job that we get a contract to defend the city retroactively. Plus we get a lot more new customers. Things are looking up.

Episode 36: ReliQuest: Superior Relics of Lightning & Courage

Staying in sync with Zappa, this time we both just grab some more relics. It's nice to have a short and simple episode. I'm still hurting from the 2.5 hour monstrosities, but I'm finally making progress catching up.

As I’ve clearly been clearly missing self-imposed deadlines, and just barely maintaining the pace, I’ve decided to switch to releases every other day. I was hoping to keep daily releases going for at least until the end of October, since the episode numbers fit perfectly with the release days. But oh well. I’m skipping today’s release (October 10). Zappa and I will switch to releasing on alternating days so one of us is putting out an SRW Y video each day.

Also, I knew I forgot to post episodes 38 and 39, I didn’t realize I also forgot episode 37. Oops!

---
Episode 37: Cauldron of Hell

It's time to pull out some more Getter Story. The Saotome Labs are being invaded by giant insects. Getter is busy fighting in the old Saotome laboratory, the Insectors are attacking from the outside, and then the Dark Army joins in. Yeah, things are not good.

---
Episode 38: Walküre Under Attack

The Audio on this one got messed up. I was cleaning out my office, including moving my computer around, and OBS decided it would use my headset mic instead of my actual recording mic.

Walküre is holding a concert at Dakar, and the former Federation capital. Due to the exposed nature of the event, we successfully predict that the Wind knights will attack. We don't even have a good starting position, and so need to rush in to block the enemy attempt to crash the concert. On top of all of that, Garuda joins in on the attack, declaring that he now serves Barao.

---
Episode 39: RqliQuest: Relics of Aura and Sacrifice

Grabbing some Relics instead of a story mission because I’m way behind.

When you’re behind, you can either work harder to catch up or just redefine what catching up means. Right now, I switched to releases every other day. Thanks to that, I’m releasing on time. Yay!

Episode 40: A Snowy, Icy Birthday

Another super long episode. Oof! These Main Story stages take forever when you voice the lines. Oh well. This makes me really glad we're switching to every other day releases. No way I would have gotten this out yesterday. Too many commitments.

We have Freyja's birthday coming up, and everyone in Y-Naught decides why not throw a surprise birthday party for her? Hayate even makes it snow outside to remind her of home.

Meanwhile, we return to Asticassia Academy for more Witch from Mercury plot. Sulleta wants to go on a date with Elan, but he challenges her to a duel instead. First he beats Guel, then he loses against Suletta. And just to tie things off, Daba's adoptive sister and fiancee shows up, brainwashed no less! We're in for a story-filled episode.

Episode 41: A Warning of the Future

A nice episode full of intrigue. We have some ruins to examine, but as we're investigating, enemies show up. A lot of them. Garuda is back, but for real, not just the empty shell he was last time. The Insectors are back with a vengeance. Some Kaiju show up. And finally, even the Wind Knights show up. It's a crazy enemy teamup fighting us, but as always, we prevail.

This should have come out on Wednesday, but I just got it uploaded today. Oops. More catchup to do!

Episode 42: Mazin Above, Demon Below

As always, the story stages are loooooooooong. We got a three hour episode, but it makes sense, since it's a two parter, and we've got lots of enemies to burn through. The Mycenae have returned, and it's time for none other than Koji Kabuto to show up in Mazinkaiser! In so many games, Mazinkaiser can just be put in range of the enemies and destroy them thoroughly. Wall shenanigans were fun here.

Oops. Totally forgot to post 43 yesterday.

Episode 43: In Coarse Things, Elegance

A nice break from the long stages, we have a DLC stage that appeared after Mazinkaiser joined. This time, a bunch of pilots get brought in before Wren to get chewed out for damaging their suits each time they launch. They get strong-armed to take a class in elegance lead by Annina. Overall, an amazingly silly stage!

--
Episode 44: Separate, Apart

Back to the story! We've got a the Dynazenon team in focus now, and we have the appearance of Gridknight! The peanut gallery is always fun, and makes things interesting. They all have some crossover interaction with us. They don't seem that bad... Then they say they want to eradicate all of humanity. Yeah, that's not right.

Episode 45: Their Choice, and Hers

Main stages take so loooooong! Ugh. It's a fun stage, but I was reading a visual novel for an hour before anything started, and then it's a two-part stage! This is crazy! This is Madness!

Long story short, we're back in Asticassia, lots of drama happening along the way. We have a team battle against Shaddiq and his harem. Earth house has a simple strategy. Turn the 6 on 6 that they're guaranteed to lose, into a 2 on 2 that they have a great chance of winning. Along the way, Miorine also starts up a new company so she can save Aerial from destruction.

That's a perfectly cromulent episode, but then we get the Wulgaru appearing just to be fillers as if this stage wasn't long enough.

I'm running a bit close to burnout, so I'm taking a break before I fully go over the edge. After this episode I'm taking a short break. I'll have one week off from Super Robot Wars Y, and then starting next week I'm going to go for daily releases until I catch back up with Zappa. By itself, that doesn't actually change my workload, just push it off for later. However, I'm taking a two week break from my other LPs, and from my HFY narration channel. That will help me destress a bit now, then build up a small backlog before getting back into the grind.

Episode 46: Between Life and Death

Another very long story stage. But this one at least gives us a good reason for being so long. We're stuck in a time loop as we work through the events of Code Geass. Each time we win, Shamna changes her strategy to better counter us. It takes us three attempts until Zero figures out how to get the info out of Shamna and beats her.

Episode 47: Dark Vengeance

Back from my little hiatus. We're going to be doing daily releases to catch up to where I should be so I can be back in sync with Zappa.

Mina and Chise have been kidnapped, and the kidnappers have demanded that Domon bring them the ransom. Domon knowingly walks into the trap, while the G Gundam team and Cross go to rescue the girls. However, someone has already raided the compound.

We end up fighting not even the B team, but the C team from Dunbine, L-Gaim, and Code Geass. The third rate team. They were ordered to make this work by a mysterious benefactor, but who could it be?

Episode 48: Surpass the Master and Oneself

We take a short pitstop in the Guiana Highlands for Domon to practice, and the other G Gundam characters to practice as well. A bunch of our units have a quick spar against Domon to help him train, and he successfully finds Meikyo Shisui, the single drop of water. With that, Domon and the rest of the G Gundam team gets a powerup, and some new attacks as well. We even get the famous Sekiha Tenkyoken!

However, all is not peaceful. The Death Army attacks, along with three Grand Master Gundams Those are a pain. Or would be if we weren't so strong already.

Episode 49: The New World Oath

It's time to finally wrap up chapter 3. Echika and the newly appointed leaders of A. Advent take their oaths of office, but we have a fight near a location of distorted space. The Insectors arrive, and then it's followed up by the arrive of Re Seivas.

We're sucked into the other side of the dimensional rift, and need to fight our way out. Once we return home, we finally have the reveal of the united enemy faction in this game. We now have a target to focus on.

Episode 50: European Front and Oceanic Front

We reach chapter 4, and we have some Front Missions to take care of. Namely, European and Oceanic Fronts. However, there's a special easter egg for us if we play Oceanic Front twice. It's spoiled by the thumbnail, but oh well.

Episode 52: Sparkling Borderline

The MJP bunch head in for their checkups. However, after the checkup, something strange has happened to Izuru. Suddenly, he's confident, suave, insanely attractive to the women and girls around him, and even his manga is good. The rest of the Rabbits team does everything they can to get him back to normal to no avail. He even gets Walküre to collaborate with them, much to Hayate's annoyance. To make it even crazier, Izuru's piloting skill drastically increases, and he's dancing as he dodges the Wind Knights' attacks.
