You ask “Y?” I ask, “Y-Naught?” We Are Not the Same. Let’s Play Super Robot Wars Y

Episode 53: Tactics Research Notes: S01

We heard to space because we were invited by the Tactics Research Institute to come visit them. We've been selling them our combat data, and they've decided to come up with something nice and evil to challenge us. Turns out, it wasn't that bad at all!

User avatar
Episode 54: ReliQuest: Ultimate Relics of Lightning and Aura

Time for another sidequest with the relics. I did this one offline, so there's no chat. For being "Ultimate" challenges, they were incredibly easy.

User avatar
Episode 55: A Cursed Song in the Night

Our entire crew and even the residents of the A. Advent have been suffering from sleepless nights wracked with nightmares. Our crew is resilient, but Freya is the first to leave the A. Advent as if hypnotized. We rescue her, but then Hadias attacks.

We start at 50 morale, and even the grunts are able to hit us way too hard. It takes a while for us to figure out what's wrong, but between Jet Jaguar, Walkure, and a slight distraction from Toenko, we pull through.

User avatar
Episode 56: Countdown to Bankruptcy

The A. Advent's finances are dire. We have no idea how best to earn more money, so the finance team secretly launches to take down a major pirate den for the bounty. Has Y-Naught been reduced to nothing more than bounty hunters?

User avatar
Episode 57: Relics of Gold, Courage, Tactics Research Note G01

Time to grab some some side content. We've got an extra stage to worry about compared to Zappa, so I need to combine another reliquest with a tactics stage.

User avatar
Episode 58: NOAH Brand's Challenge

Re Seivas challenges the A. Advent to a duel. Sadly, there's a time limit which ruins my desire to resupply spam. We need to beat a bunch of bosses within 5 turns, and save Re Seivas and his new suit for last. Fortunately, we get all of them, which gives us a little reward from Otaki Factory.

User avatar
Episode 59: ReliQuest: Relic of Gales and Relic of Hellfire

Time for another sidequest with the relics. Once more, I've fallen behind. Gah! This was supposed to be a story stage released yesterday, but I need the breathing room. It's another relic quest for now.

User avatar
Episode 60: The Sveet Raid

Another very long episode, even through the game claims it's only four minutes long. We get information that there's a meeting of the minds at Oldna Posaydal's Fortress, Sveet.

So, we mount a raid to cause problems for our enemies and hopefully rescue Olibee. The raid is a success, but we are forced to retreat due to us sensing a "dark presence".

User avatar
Episode 63: Ultimate Relic of Sight and First Relic of Healing

Time for some more Relics. I actually recorded this in time. I just forgot to upload it before going to sleep. Oops.

User avatar
Appeal has gone through, and the youtube version is live!

Episode 64: Six and a Dragon

Back to the main story. That gives us progression, but it also means another long episode. Fortunately only 2.5 hours, and not 3+ hours at least. We have some more Dynazenon story happening. Chise has something growing on her, and soon it turns into a Kaiju of her own. Soon enough, we're under attack by the Kaiju Club. Yume is isn't in a good space mentally, which causes issues for us.

Previous episode isn’t unblocked yet. Hopefully we’ll get that sooner or later.

Episode 65: Investigating Kaiju Users

Now that we have the previous episode done, we get sent on a mission to investigate the Kaiju users. Two of the encounters go well, but two of them completely mess up the interaction and trigger the appearance of new kaiju.

User avatar
Episode 66: Free-LC: A Smile on the Street Corner

DLC 1 has finally dropped! Yay! Today, we have the Free-LC, the DLC teaser that everyone gets to convince them to buy the DLC. We have Big O, Braigar, and Kamen Rider Double. The story is minimal, but it's just a teaser. Fortunately, we already got it. Next episodes will be a DLC detour.

User avatar
Fell sick while having no backlog, so now I need to catch up. I’m five days behind, so we’ll have daily releases until I catch up.

Episode 67: Roger the Negotiator

I'm back from being unable to record thanks to a sore throat. (Yay!) Time to get into the actual DLC stages. I decide to start off with the Big O stage. Say it with me, Big O! Showtime!

User avatar
Episode 68: Trouble Among the Asteroids

Our pursuit of energy clients leads us to the asteroid belt to reach a colony faster. How that works, I don't know, but it has us run into a the Cosmo Ranger J9, and a weapons deal they're investigating for the Preventers. However, the deal goes poorly for everyone involved once the golems activate.

User avatar
Episode 69: His Name is Double

And now we grab the final member of the DLC 1 team, Kamen Rider Double! Their two halves of a Private investigator for Fuuto, searching for the disappeared client, and fighting dopants.

User avatar
Episode 70: Client L

We encounter Leah Crye, and it turns out that she is the client that all three of our DLC characters were working with. She hired Roger, met with Poncho Pancho to hire the J9, and went to Fuuto to speak with Shotaro. However, the mysterious man in a silk hat is watching from afar as we have yet another battle.

User avatar
Episode 71: ReliQuest: Relics of Mastery, Sacrifice, and Power

Taking a quick break from our DLC missions. It's time to get some relics out of the way. We get three done, and it really looks like we're running low on remaining relics. It's so nice to see this part of the game appear to wrap up.

User avatar
Right as I caught up to the planned release schedule, something else came up and I fell behind again. Boo! Anyway, back to daily releases until I catch back up.

Episode 72: An Unfair Stage

Beck has kidnapped Maria Louise, and demands that Roger comes in the Big O alone. Of course it's a trap and Bed unleashes his army of Beck Deluxes. Fortunately, Dorothy is able to rescue Maria after Roger distracts him.

User avatar
Episode 73: Evil Lurking Under Starlight

Sally Po has identified an asteroid where a group of terrorists are based. She recruits us and the J9 to destroy. On top of that, she passes along some information that they are holding Pancho Poncho captive.

User avatar
Episode 74: Scarlet Kamen Rider

Time to get back to the Kamen Rider plot. This time, while we're in Buenos Aires, Kamen Rider Accel shows up and joins in the fight. We get some fun shenanigans with his wife also.

The J9 and Wing boys team up to infiltrate the base, setup a diversion, and lay explosives everywhere to blow the base and all of its weapons to kingdom come, and also rescue Pansho along the way.

User avatar
Episode 75: The Walled Garden of Malice

Dry on leads, we head to Lagos. There a kid asks for us to find his missing cat. Shotaro is the only one who is eager to do it. However, he gets shown up as Roger finds it first despite not officially looking for it. Nonetheless, the preacher of Evil shows up and causes problems. Lots of problems.

User avatar
Episode 76: The Faceless

The grand entrance of our favorite mummy, Schwarzwald. There is a mysterious faceless man appearing in Buenos Aires. When we investigate, Schwarzwald attacks. Gold golems appear as a third party, and then Beck joins the fray as well. Fortunately, we are able to fight our way out with ease.

Forgot to make an update post, even though the video released as planned, so you get two videos today instead!

Episode 77: The Melody of Battle

This is as far as we can get in the DLC. We need to progress the story to unlock more. Walkure is throwing another concert, but they receive a threat that if they don't cancel the concert, they will attack.

We must hold the line and protect the colony from the attack. On the plus side, we unlock the Brai Cannon attack for Braigar. That's a... BLAST!

That's a... BLAST!

Episode 78: The Witch's Wishes

A slightly longer intro section as I have to take a front mission in order to hit Ace with Messer. Why? No reason...

After that, it's off to deal with Witch from Mercury plot. Guel is now Bob, and is working for a transport company that is transporting his old MS. Suletta had her Gundam Ariel Rebuilt. However, as all of this is happening, the Wulgaru attack, and then NOAHS attacks us from behind. It's a pain.

User avatar
Episode 79: Where Resolve Leads

We have a big problem. Yesterday's mission was a diversion to keep us away from Earth. The Windermerian King is on his way to newly discovered Protoculture ruins that just appeared in the vicinity of Phoenix.

Once we arrive, we start to fight the enemies, but along the way, the Windermerian battleship with the king is spotted entering the atmosphere. We have three turns to make our way to the target. However, not everything is sunshine and rainbows (and blowing up enemy robots). Multiple tragedies strike us pretty much simultaneously, and we're left reeling.

User avatar
Episode 80: A NINJA's Oath

It comes as no shock that Cross is alive. He was captured rather than killed. He extracts some information from the baddies, and then manages to escape. NOAHS attacks, and we're forced to repel them. Re Seivas joins the attack, and Cross launches in a captured Lumenus. However, he also gets an upgraded unit from Forte. However, with System Nira-Kana-I on the A. Advent disabled, the improved Lunedrache is barely able to move. Can cross survive the rematch with Seivas?

User avatar
Episode 81: Front Missions: Asian and North American Fronts

A short break from the long missions to take care of some Front missions. Kamui is way behind on kills, so I feed almost all of them to him while our resupply spammers resupply spam.

User avatar
Episode 82: Reliquest: Hellfire: Breakdown and Climax

A nice and easy pair of relic stages. I have a blast making a joke of the first one, and then I do everything wrong on the second stage and still win.

User avatar
Episode 83: Tactics Research Notes: S02

We go back to space to do another Tactics Research. We have a bunch of tough enemies, but we cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

User avatar
Episode 84: The Wind Blows to the Future

We need to make an assault on the Windermereian ship. We sneak in and get very far. However, each of our teams are discovered, and we need to bug out. However, on the way out, there are a lot of foes chasing us. We have five minutes to get our of Dodge, otherwise we'll be chased down. Despite that though, there's always the option to completely destroy the enemies that are trying to slow us down. That's what we do, and we make it out nice and safe.

User avatar
Episode 85: The Dogma Way, The Office Way

We have a bunch of DLC units that don't really participate in the story. We have the X and T original this time. They're off on a mission in the desert, where they run into baddies. They run into difficulties, but we solve it all with the power of weapons upgrades! I also forget to bring almost all of the units I wanted to bring. Oops.

User avatar
Episode 86: Reqliquest: Healing: Breakdown and Climax

Time for some more relics. Should be nice and easy, right? Turns out no. I need to switch up my damage dealers and get Kaiser Gridnight in to deal sufficient amounts of damage. However, with that, we're able to make a complete joke of the burst damage requirements.

User avatar
Hey! Forums aren't covered in spam anymore! I guess I can work on slowly readding all the episodes here as well!
--

Episode 87: Weight of Purpose

According to the schedule, I was supposed to do a sidestory stage today, but as I was running late, I did the Cybuster and V OGs upgrade stage. Time to finally get Cybuster stronger, and his cyflash still stinks. Oh well. We at least get a Cosmo Nova, and the V units get their super finishers as well.

Unlike the X/T upgrade stage, I actually remember to deploy my units.

--

Episode 88: Reliquest: Relics of Power

Some more relics. The hard one actually took a few tries. Mostly because I didn’t prepare properly, and then got an unexpected crit.

--

Episode 89: The Dinosaur’s Invitation

We’ve been invited to go deep underwater and meet up with the Dinosaur Empire, or at least what’s left of it. We learn that they are now allied with the humans, and Kamui is part of an experiment to breed a race of Saurians that can safely live on the surface once more. His mother is kept hostage to keep him compliant, and the emperor is none other than his half-brother. However, the Insectors attack and we need to fight them off.

--

Epiosode 90: The Night That It All Started

While we’re learning about Shotaro’s past, we find out that Leah had disappeared and asked us not to look for her. Fortunately, we have a tracker on her, and follow her. We find where she is and run into none other than Kamen Rider Skull!

User avatar
Episode 91: Manufactured Lives

The Wulgaru have tentatively teamed up with Ra Val, and work together to raid Mendel colony. We get a new supporter, Teoria. Shinn and Luna get a new combination attack, increasing their power output, and we get the Alpha Azieru. Lots of powerups, but we don’t really mess with them for now. Unfortunately, the heist was a success, genes were stolen from Mendel Colony, and we just clear out the stragglers.

--

Episode 92: Tactics Research Notes: G02

Back to Jaburo we go to do some more tactics research. This one seems silly, but it perfectly models an ambush that locks us into close combat with enemies.

--

Episode 93: The Will of Byston Well

We head over to Lhasa to open the Aura road and visit Byston Well. Ciela has correctly guessed that Jacoba Aon is the one responsible for bringing the Dunbine and L-Gaim folks to our world. Ciela takes Show, Daba, and Kamille with her. However, Jacoba has her own plans, and they involve Echica. All of Y-Naught gets summoned to Byston Well and from there we fight a group of Dunbine and L-Gaim enemies (plus Yazan).

--

Episode 94: Ye Guilty

Cast in the name of God… Ye Not Guilty! Big O… Showtime! Wait, that’s what the title references, but that’s not what this stage is about. It’s the first of the two-part finale of DLC 1. We finally learn who Alfcourt is, or rather what he is. We also reveal Leah’s true identity. With those two pieces of information, we now enter the end stage of this story.

User avatar
Episode 95: Time for Farewells

Time to finish up the rest of DLC 1. We finally see Alfcourt Campaul’s mech. It’s just a steampunk as he is. It even literally is powered by Evil Steam. This one is an absolute SLOG! I’m just happy that I had a bunch of morale improving assists because it would have been painful otherwise.

--

Episode 96: Onboard: Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk!

For once, Zappa has a stage that he’s playing that I’m not. I needed an idea for a filler, and I decided to catch up all the talk missions that I’m behind on. We have 25 of them to burn through. I doubt we’d have been able to get all of them if we continued the usual pace of one per episode. Thanks to this, we get the story, and the rewards all at once. And we get to stay in sync with Zappa. I’ll have to wait to get Bellvine until later.

--

Episode 97: Disaster in Red

With the DLC and chat marathon done, let’s get back into Chapter 5 proper. This time we’re dealing with more Godzilla Singular Point story. Apparently the world is in danger of a world destroying catastrophe, and we need “diagonalizers” to deal with higher order matter.

--

Episode 98: The Dragon’s Eternal Justice

The title of this stage is far, far more grandiose than the reality. You might have thought it has something to do with Dynazenon, Getter, or something else with a dragon. No, it’s just Altron Gundam, and also the Eternal, and also the Infinite Justice. Nice name, but at least there’s a second meaning about Wufei’s justice.

User avatar
The game just got a big update in light of the release of DLC 2. The attack screens have bigger percentages, and the level and upgrade caps have been increased.

Episode 99: Three Principles of Darkness

Off we go to Detroit. I didn’t expect this to be a social commentary! There are violent armed gangs and a destroyed city. Why does that feel like modern day? We try to coax out some gangs, but are a bit more successful than planned. The one we get to come out and fight gets overrun by the Dark Army. We have Urube and Wong Yun Fat as well as some L-Gaim enemies.

--

Wow! The big 100. This is an annoyingly long game. Lots of fun, but I do miss the 50 stage SRWs. Oh well. Buckle in for another Loooooooong episode. As you can tell from the thumbnail, we have a great new robot joining the game now.

Episode 100: Power to Overcome Evil

Time to hit Athens. Walkure has a concert. But before we can attend, the Infernal Alliance attack! They have some special ritual in mind that they’re working on. The Great General of Darkness enters the battlefield himself, and we finally get a much awaited powerup for Tetsuya.

--

Episode 101: NOAH Brand’s Resolve

We have a Walkure concert near Cheyenne Freyja is upset because the soldiers call her music a weapon. This kicks off a series of events that results in NOAH Brand, now led by Re Sistis to attack the A Advent. This is very much a timed boss rush, with some grunts hanging around the sides. As always, we play a bit slowly in real time, but in terms of in-game time, we take the whole force out in four minutes, and even take out most of the bosses on turn 2.

--

Episode 102: The World Turning

Confirm your shelter shield is activated. Yes, Heero says the line! Remember, it’s not Christmas until Heero confirms the shelter shield is activated. We have the events of Endless Waltz to go through, and it’s a spam of Serpents and other NOAHS forces.

--

Episode 103: Mission: Walkure Escort

Walkure has unfortunately picked up some stalkers. They need some body guards, and for some reason or another, Delta Squadron isn’t in a position to provide their usual services, so the G and Wings teams are recruited for bodyguard duty. Shenanigans arise. Shenanigans, I say!

User avatar
Episode 104: A Day of Ninja Training

Another quick and fun DLC mission. It’s just a filler, but a fun one. Domon and Cross are training, and then Shinn and Kira get roped in. They don’t like it at first, but the training helps their teamwork in the end.

--

Episode 105: Two Captains

Char and Bright have very different personalities, outlooks, and strategies. However, when they cooperate, magic happens.

--

Episode 106: Ancient Memories Unsealed

Akira’s father and grandfather are missing. The A. Advent goes to Bermuda to search for them. Along the way, they run into Garuda. Garuda rescues Akira’s father and grandfather from the underground lab they were trapped in while we fight the foes on the surface. Garuda returns, but then immediately terminates our temporary alliance. Why? What did he discover in the underwater lab?

--
Episode 107: Chapter 5 Finale: A Lonely Moonlit Path

Time to advance the OG story, and although this is long, Oh boy is it good! We get a lot of revelations, and we even run into Echika’s father. We also meet the person that is responsible for the technologies present on the A. Advent in general, and System Nira-Kana-I in particular.

User avatar
Episode 108: Omen

With chapter 5 wrapped up, Zappa and I head back to take care of DLC 2. It’s time for the free preview stage. We get to try out Getter Noir, Steel Jeeg, and Da Garn, which the game uses to convince us to buy the DLC.

--

Episode 109: The Black Getter

Now that we’ve done the DLC 2 preview, let’s get into the actual DLC 2 stages. First and foremost, we have the entry I’m excited for, Getter Noir. We have a clone of Ryoma in a black Getter.

--

Episode 110: Brave of the Legend

Now that we’ve done the DLC 2 preview, let’s get into the actual DLC 2 stages. Another new unit joins us, this time it’s Da Garn. We have a preview stage with them having moved onto the A Advent. It’s nice to have a brave series on here.

--

Episode 111: The Immortal Man Returns

Alright, last one of the DLC 2 join up stages. This time, we have Steel Jeeg showing up. He has trouble transforming at first, but once it kicks in, he’s good to go.

User avatar
Episode 112: The Purpose of Warriors

Now that all three of our units have arrived, we have a stage where we get to play off all three of their personalities against each other. Sharing their own fears and concerns. On top of that, Seiji doesn’t want to commit to fighting yet, but he must overcome his reluctance.

--

Episode 113: Three Hearts as One

Time for the next string of stages. We have the full choice open again, and so we take priority with Getter Noir. Takuma and Ryoma get sent on a recon mission together. Shortly before they’re about to have a mock battle, Insectors arrive and we need to fight them instead.

--

Episode 114: Red’s Counterattack

Time for more Da Garn! This time, we need to defend a city (except that there isn’t even any mission requirement to protect it, and we have Redlone appear, apparently resurrected! Oh No!

--

Episode 115: Cursed Existence

Hiroshi is still not at full strength. His evolved cyborg body has regressed. However, in this fight against Hadias and the Infernal Alliance, he’s able to pull out his inner strength and return to full power.

User avatar
Episode 116: The Meaning of Existence

We’re off defending a city from NOAHS when surprise reinforcements cause havoc (like game over havoc actually). Our mysterious robot assistant arrives to help us out. This time, he sticks around for a while

Episode 117: Light, Darkness, and Life

Hiroshi has been having bad dreams that have been keeping him awake. He says it’s nothing to worry about, but people are worried about him. Hiroshi, Kouji, and Tetsuya hatch a plan to draw out the evil force that’s been attacking them, and go solo for a while. Himika and Hadeas share a body, and Jeeg gets a weapon upgrade. Hooray!

Episode 118: The Torn Path

We’re off to Kilamanjaro, because Redlone has started extracting Earth Energy! Oh no! We have a rather simple fight cutting through swathes of enemies, but once Redlone himself appears, we’re in trouble. Fortunately, a mysterious Lion shows up, and Da Garn might just have a powerup!

Episode 119: Our Path

Time for some Getter Noir! What do we have today? The crew finds out a way to get the Getter Noir team back to their dimension. However, once the portal is opened, both Getter teams get attacked, and we delay to fight. After that, GREATEST ANIME BETRAYAL OF 2026!

User avatar
Episode 120: West Japan Front + Relic of Prowess: Heaven

That’s it for DLC 2 for now. Time to get back into all of the stuff that we’ve unlocked in Chapter 6. We have a new front mission and a new relic to grab. That relic was stupidly easy now because we’re so over-leveled.

--

Episode 121: Tactics Research Notes: S03

It’s time for some Fleet Combat! We visit the Tactics Research Institute once more. This time Dai Komine from MJP is controlling the opposition, and he throws a massive fleet at us. Lots and lots of ships are thrown at us! And we plow through them with ease. In return, we get an amazing part.

--

Episode 122: ReliQuest: Relics of Mastery/Prowess: Earth

Time to clear out some Relic Missions. This time we’re taking on the Relics of Mastery and Prowess, taking on the Earth level difficulty of them.
